Measles

The type of disease is the infection that affects the respiratory system is called measles which is caused by a virus that is specifically a paramyxovirus of the genious morbillivirus. These viruses are enveloped, single stranded. They are also known as the negative sense RNA viruses. The symptoms that includes are cough, runny nose, red eyes and fever. Erythema is redness of the skin, caused by hyperemia of the capillaries. Normally this disease spreads through the respiration which is contact with fluids from an infected persons nose and mouth. The infection has an average incubation period of 14 days and infectivity lasts from 2–4 days prior, until 2–5 days following the onset of the rash. The measles affected boy with the infected skin is shown in the figure.
